On the underside of the lid is the original trade label which reads “Rogers’s Superior London-Made Water Colors… the great superiority of these colors has been proved by the society of arts having awarded Joshua Rogers their large special prize gold medal”

it has not traded for decades and the name is now used by a London cocktail establishment

until the late 1930s

This piece is beautifully worn in and has an aura of it's own with the creams and indigos leaping out
